Conversations

One of the funnest things about being a parent is observing our daughter's development. She is doing well with speech. She's not quite two years old, but she is already forming complex sentences to express desires and talk about sequences. For example, "I want to go on a ride with daddy in the green car right now."

I love it when I catch her having a conversation with herself (or her toys). Sometimes it is in response to a conversation we have had previously:

"What is that banana doing?"
"Oh, it's just sitting there on the table."
"Yes, you're right. It's just sitting there."

"Do you want to choose some milk?"
     "Yes, you may choose."

"Mommy's hair is wet."
"Yes, you're right. It is wet."

"Do you want to find a lion song on the phone"
"Yeah, I'll find a song for you."

"Do you want some apple juice?"
"No, I don't have any apple juice right now."

I could compare her with the Golum/Smeagol combination from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

But the similarities end with the one-sided conversations.
